SPTTC is proud to announce that we have been shortlisted as ‘Learning Provider of the year’ at the BAME Apprenticeship awards
The BAME Apprenticeship Awards , showcase the outstanding work and achievement of apprentices from black and minority ethnic (BAME) communities and inspires other young people to apply for apprenticeships.
It also highlights learning providers who are committed to providing equal opportunities to professionals from ethnic minority backgrounds through Apprenticeships and further education.
The entry highlighted how SPTTC’s Traineeship and Study Programme centres act as a unique gateway on to Apprenticeships and further education, with 52% of all learners coming from a BAME background.
In the past year, SPTTC has welcomed more than 3,000 new young people and adults onto apprenticeships, Traineeships and vocational training programmes which included over 250 BAME Apprentices.
Investing in a new Mentor Me programme, mental health and mentoring training has been delivered to over 65 SPTTC tutors and trainer assessors, so staff can provide additional support for learners to develop confidence, life skills, English / Maths skills and any other specific needs.
Through individual mentoring, technical vocational qualifications and 1-2-1 support, Apprentices achieved an average completion rate of 86.4% in 2019 / 20 (against a national average of 65%)
Stephen Crawley, Chief Operating Officer of SPTTC, said; “At SPTTC we are committed to celebrating diversity and inclusion both amongst our staff and our apprentices. We are proud to offer a unique gateway for learners from BAME communities from those who are starting off their careers to those who are flourishing in their current roles.”
Abdul Khan, aged 31 from Kingston NHS Foundation Trust was just one celebrated apprentice in the entry.
Nearing the end of his Associate Project Manager Level 4 Apprenticeship, Abdul has already made a significant impact at the Trust being involved in several projects to improve IT infrastructure and reduce paper waste.
Abdul said: “The Apprenticeship has given me more structure, allowing me to organise the project with a clear workflow and timeline, and helping me communicate and present data in a way that is easy for senior staff to digest.”
The BAME Apprenticeship Awards ceremony will take place via an online event on the 30th September 2021.
